Hard luck was the name of the game tonight when both Mark and Chris were involved in the same wreck early on. Marks car received the worst damage out of the five cars taken out. The Bakaj crew will be pulling and pounding the 52 back together to stay in the points lead.

While the 52 car was extremely fast, traffic did not go in Marks favor by only allowing him to work up to 6th place. Chris in the 32 car started near last and drove up though the 22 car pack to his brother, finishing his first race of the season and comming in 7th.
The rain held out for this race only as the SK Modified 100 was postponed until next week.

Mark starting 4th was able to use the outside groove and drove to his first victory in the 52 SK Light. Chris was involved in a wreck again this week but enjoyed the victory lane with his brother and Pit Crew.

Mark takes 1st in the SK Light practice at Stafford Motor Speedway on opening day with a 19.67 time on his 6th lap at a thrill pumping 91 mph! In the first heat Mark came in 3rd. For the feature Chris finished 20th after being collected by a spinning car, while Mark was in 2nd for the last portion of the race when he slid up the track in turn 3 letting a few cars slip by to finish in 6th.

Season Starter At "The Bowl"

Today was the perfect start to what looks to be a promising season for the Bakaj Brothers. The forecasted rain held off and let the record breaking legend field hit the track. The boys were set in the same heat race, Mark coming in 2nd, and Chris in 4th. They started in the front of the pack as Mark took an early dash to the front. Chris on the other hand had some throttle problems and therefore was forced to sit in the infield. Mark held the lead from Jason Palmer during the last restart. Mark took the checkered flag and his first win of the 2008 Legends season.

Mark participated in the SXR Series 30 lap “Crown Jewel” feature event in Waterford , Sunday afternoon. This go kart racing series was developed by the members of the Mohegan Sun race team the summer of 2007, with four racers and has now grown to an, invitation only, 15 driver racing series. SXR stands for Scooter X Racing.
It was a chilly opening day, yet there 12 first time competitors out for the fun with plenty of family and friend spectators. In the first 10 lap heat Mark placed 1st with Jeff Paul taking 1st in the second heat. For the feature Bakaj started on the pole with Paul, fire works, pace car and all. There were battles to gain the lead and even a spill, yet mark prevailed to take his first win of the season! The next 25 lap event is March 22nd visit HERE for more details on the SXR racing.
